The PPP Election Results Are Certified. Now What?

On April 2, the Clay County Canvassing Board certified the results of the 2024 Presidential Preference Primary Election and conducted the post-election audit. The public audit was completed with 100% accuracy and results can be viewed on ClayElections.gov.

According to Florida statute, audits are conducted after every election to verify the results. After certifying an election, the county Canvassing Board will immediately conduct a manual post-election audit to ensure the voting equipment tabulated all votes properly. All audits are open to the public to attend.

Florida law states “a manual audit shall consist of a public manual tally of the votes cast in one randomly selected race that appears on the ballot.” Ballots cast by mail, during Early Voting, on Election Day, plus provisional and overseas ballots are all included in this audit. That number is then compared to the official results.

In June 2023, the Florida Division of Elections approved ClearAudit- an automated independent audit system. This system allows Clay County to now conduct a 100% audit, consisting of a public automated tally of the votes cast across every race and every precinct. ClearAudit is completely independent from our tabulation system. Once the ballots have been processed in the tabulation system, they are separately scanned into the ClearAudit equipment which verifies the results.

Though, Florida Supervisors of Elections are already required to conduct an audit after every election, the use of ClearAudit provides yet another layer of transparency and accuracy in the process, giving the voters of Clay County verified, trusted election results.
